When playing Smash Bros. intensely, everyone faces ‘stick drift’.
The cursor moves even though I haven’t touched anything, or it starts walking on its own…
I’d like you to try it before you buy a new one, and I’d like to introduce you to a method of reviving it that can be done for a few hundred yen.
Magic item “Contact Revitalizer”
Before sending it in for repair, please buy “Contact Spray” at a home center or Amazon.
*Lubricating oil such as “KURE 5-56” is an absolute no-no as it melts plastic. Be sure to choose one for electrical contacts.
Tips on how to spray
- Pull up the rubber cover at the base of the stick slightly with a toothpick, etc.
- Inject only a small amount (one puff) of spray into the gap
- Turn the stick to blend it in
- If there is white powder, wipe it off
This alone will eliminate internal dust and poor contact, and will often fix the problem.
Summary
Since professional controllers are expensive (more than 8,000 yen), it is best to try maintenance with a spray first.
