Are you starting to stream games on Twitch or YouTube, but are you facing problems such as “the streaming screen is full of block noise” or “the game is heavy and choppy”?
The settings for OBS Studio are complicated, but anyone can deliver high-quality images as long as they understand the relationship between “bitrate” and “encoder”.
1. How to choose an encoder
Settings > Output > “Video encoder” on the Distribution tab.
Be sure to set to use GPU here.
- NVIDIA GPU:NVIDIA NVENC H.264 (new)
- AMD Graphics:AMD HW H.264
If you select “x264 (CPU)”, the CPU usage will skyrocket and the game will become heavier.
With the latest Grabo, you can perform distribution processing with almost no drop in game performance.
2. Correct answer for bit rate
This is the most important value that determines image quality.
Set according to the upper limit of the distribution site.
- Twitch:6000 Kbps 〜 8000 Kbps(CBR)
- YouTube Live:9000 Kbps 〜 15000 Kbps
However, if the upload speed of your home line is low, streaming will stop if you increase it too high.
Please do a speed test and set the speed to about 70% of your upload speed.
3. Start with administrator privileges
This is a surprisingly little-known trick.
Right-click the OBS shortcut and “Run as administrator”.
This will cause Windows to increase the processing priority of OBS, making distribution less likely to stutter even under high load.
Summary
The best shortcut is to “record” each time you change settings and check the image quality yourself.
The trick is to set the bit rate a little higher for applications such as Apex where there is a lot of movement.
