“I practice for an hour every day with aim practice software, but I still can’t win.”
“My kill rate (K/D) is high, but I can’t improve my rank.”
The wall that every FPS gamer runs into is the “Platinum/Diamond Floor Pero” problem, which is a swamp for intermediate players.
Actually, 90% of people who are stuck in this rank range have sufficient aiming power (strength in shooting).
So what is missing?
These are “Standing around to stay alive” and “Optimizing the device environment.”
This time, I will explain in a volume of 5,000 characters a specific method for increasing your rank logically, not mentally.
Chapter 1: Why are you “the first to die”
The most sinful thing in a ranked match is “getting the first down.”
The moment a team is at a numerical disadvantage, its winning rate drops to less than 10%.
Are any of the following three causes of your instant death?
1. Exceeding the body too much from the cover
If you watch replays of good players, you’ll notice that they always hide half of their body behind the wall, except when shooting.
On the other hand, those who are struggling to improve are shooting each other in the middle of the open area.
The correct answer is not to “hide after you finish shooting,” but “start shooting from a place where you can hide.”
Please be aware that 40% of your screen is always covered by walls and rocks.
2. Not looking at the location of allies (isolated)
How often do you look at the minimap?
“Once every 3 seconds” is the lowest line.
When you spot an enemy and think you can shoot, if your allies are not in a position to cover you, it is not an opportunity but a crisis.
While you are firing one magazine, three enemies will focus on you and instantly kill you.
Be conscious of fighting in the line of fire of yourself and your allies.
3. Slow decision to draw
“Armor cracked” “No recovery”
Are you still showing your face in this situation?
If you are at a disadvantage, use your skills and escape without hesitating for a second.
If you survive, you can recover and have another chance, but if you go down, it’s over.
The difference between Platinum and Master is whether or not you can make a “courageous withdrawal.”
Chapter 2: Buy “ability” with hardware
Next to psychological theory is the physical environment.
FPS is a sport where the difference in equipment (devices) is directly linked to victory or defeat.
If you are playing in the following environment, you are playing with a handicap.
1. Using a 60Hz monitor
This is beside the point.
When an enemy jumps out, a phenomenon that occurs on a 60Hz monitor is that “the moment you see the enemy, you have already been shot.”
By simply changing to a gaming monitor with a speed of 144Hz or higher, you will be able to see enemy movements that you could not see before.
There is an investment effect that increases K/D by 0.5.
2. The mouse pad is too small or dirty
The mouse pad is often the cause of unstable aiming.
With a small pad for office use, it is physically impossible to turn around or track.
Use a gaming mouse pad (SteelSeries, Logitech, etc.) that is at least 40cm wide.
Also, please note that the slippage will change due to moisture and dirt from your hands, so please be aware that it is a consumable item that should be replaced every six months.
3. No sound (earphones/headset)
Are you making excuses like “I couldn’t hear the footsteps”?
In FPS, sound is the same information source as “wall hack”.
Review gaming earphones with a good localization (direction) and equalizer settings (settings that raise the frequency band of footsteps).
Recently, earphones (such as IE100 PRO) are more popular than expensive headsets because of their better localization.
Chapter 3: Mental techniques for success in solo rank
When you are playing in the field (solo) and moving through the ranks, you may get irritated by the movements of your allies.
However, you will not gain points even if you complain to your allies.
People who go solo to Diamond Master are as dry as thinking of their allies as disposable NPCs.
We have no choice but to match our allies
Even if you are making the right decision, if two of your allies attack incorrectly, you have no choice but to follow them.
Even if one person chooses the correct answer and hides, if the other two die, they will lose in the end.
There is a saying that goes, “Even a stupid attack becomes a rush if three people do it.”
If your allies don’t retreat even after you stab them with a pin, let’s get down and shoot together.
VC (voice chat) is a double-edged sword
VCs who can report are powerful, but team morale will collapse if their abusive language or sighs are heard.
If you are in the wild and have a VC, please promise not to say anything other than positive words such as “Nice!”, “Don’t worry”, and “Let’s move on”.
A team with a good atmosphere will surprisingly be able to shoot better.
Summary: Things you can change starting today
Talent has nothing to do with raising your rank.
What is needed is “correct knowledge” and “reflection.”
- When you die, reflect on just one thing, “why you died” (don’t blame your allies).
- Stay close to cover.
- Buy a 144Hz monitor and a wide mouse pad.
If you do these three things thoroughly, the color of your rank should definitely change next season.
Don’t give up and return to the battlefield!
