[Apex Legends] Fixed the bug where footsteps could not be heard! About high-quality sound settings using “cfg file” and the risk of ban

The “no footsteps bug” has been a long-standing issue in Apex.
I no longer want to die in such an unreasonable way, where I don’t notice the enemy until it’s right behind me.
Since in-game settings have limitations, a popular method among PC users is to rewrite the settings file (autoexec.cfg) to improve the sound quality.

“miles_channels” settings

Apex’s audio engine is not optimized for stereo (2ch) by default.
By adding the following command to the startup options or cfg file, you can cut the surround processing and make the stereo position clear.
+miles_channels 2
+miles_occlusion 0
This will disable the process of muffled sounds through walls (occlusion), allowing you to clearly hear the enemy’s position.

Is this a violation of the rules (BAN)?

Conclusion: It’s a gray area, but currently you won’t be banned.
CFG (macro) that automates strife (character contact) has been officially banned, but lightweight settings for adjusting image and sound quality are also used by many professionals and are tacitly tolerated.
However, competition rules may prohibit this, so competitors should be careful.

Summary

For those who are afraid of tinkering with settings, simply turning on “loudness equalization” in Windows can be effective.
Let’s reduce unreasonable deaths using a method that suits you.
